This 15-day 120 hour course of instruction is designed to provide entry level engine department personnel with the ability to upgrade his or her credentials through knowledge and understanding of the subjects covered in USCG QMED/Oiler exams and is approved “in lieu of examination” by the United States Coast Guard.
Unlicensed Engine Department members must have a minimum of 180 days of service as a wiper or equivalent to qualify for any QMED training.

Any applicant successfully completing your QMED-Oiler (NOREMI-387) course and presenting your certificate of training within one year of the completion of training will satisfy the examination requirements of 46 CFR 12.501 (c)(5) for QMED-Oiler.
